K2016

Piano The Mauricio Kagel Composition Competition is held every three years, hosted by the Ludwig van Beethoven Department of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Composers are encouraged to submit piano works using contemporary language, not ignoring aesthetic appeal, which can be performed by children and young adults. 176 works from 41 countries were submitted for consideration. The jury chose 18 works for performance and discussion, and the proceedings were made publicly available via livestream. Universal Edition is proud to publish the top three winning compositions and K2016 is the third such compilation.
